Joan returned to God on May 31, 2022, to be reunited with her beloved twin, Judy, her brother-in-law, Pat, and her niece and Goddaughter, Peggy (all Wohler). Born in Montreal, August 7, 1943, daughter of the late John and Mary Cronin (Hickey), Joan’s life and career took her from working in Montreal to Edmonton, Kingston, and, finally, to Ottawa to be closer to family. She enjoyed her work and her colleagues in the finance industry and at Emcon until her retirement.
Joan loved reading, especially mysteries and Regency romances. A spirited conversationalist, she loved the exchange of ideas, especially on politics, religion, and other hot topics. A people person, she chatted cheerfully with anyone - friends, family, even passing strangers – with ease.
A devout liberal Catholic, she was an active member of St. Michael’s in Corkery, before her move to Montreal shortly after the passing of Judy. In Montreal, Joan happily lived out her last years with Betty Wohler.
Left to mourn their loss are: Joan’s sisters, Victoria and Lynda (Peter); nieces Laurie (Michael) McLoughlin and Michaela Carocci; nephew, Michael (Tammy) Wohler; great-nephews, Stephen, Max, John, and Ryan, as well as the “Montreal Wohlers”.
We give special thanks to Betty for taking such amazing care of Joan over the last year as Joan’s health failed.
On Saturday, August 13, 2022, friends in the Montreal area may call at St. Patrick of the Island Catholic Church, 278 Rue Shamrock, Pincourt, Quebec at 10:00 a.m. to share memories and condolences followed by a funeral mass at 11:00.
