Angelika Demeter

Gatineau 1951 – 2021

Angelika Demeter became a true angel on February 20th, 2021.

This lovely lady spent her life trying her best not to be a burden on anybody and died the same way, battling this last round of cancer valiantly on her own so as to not worry her loved ones.

Many of her close family were able to say goodbye in person at Gatineau hospital, in spite of covid, for which we are grateful. We also had the opportunity to allow for video chats and phone calls for those at a distance, so Angelika knew she was well loved and cherished.

Throughout everything, no matter what life threw at her, she always remained a kind and gentle person. Always kind. She always listened. She always was invested in what you were saying and she always threw her full support behind everybody around her. Life doled out a pummelling to her, over and over, and she just picked herself back up and kept going. We are so grateful for her gentle perseverance, her experience, and her amazing sense of humour. She always made everything around her more fun, especially in her role as The Greatest Omi That Ever Was to her grandchildren. She will be truly missed.

She is survived by her boyfriend Rick, her children, Jonathan (Annie), Jesse (Lara), Princess (Michael), Tamara (Kevin) and Emma (Jonathan); her grandchildren, Joshua, Maya, Norah, Bodhi and Brayden; her six sisters, Rita, Brigitte, Lydia, Katherine, Rosalie and Zenda and their spouses; her many, many, many nieces and nephews and their children. Her giant extended family all over the world was so special to her. Thank you to the staff in the ER and on the 5th floor of Gatineau Hospital for taking care of her until the end and to the countless doctors and nurses who have cared for her over the past few years.

Visitations for 25 people at a time in accordance with the actual sanitary norms will be held on Saturday, February 27th, 2021 from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the:
