It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Chatelain (née Majzel) R.N. on November 25, 2025, at the age of 80 in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. Irene went peacefully, with family and friends by her side.

Cherished wife to Luc, together for over 50 years. Much loved mother to Anne and her husband Matthew, and adored grandmother to Nathan. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephew Jennifer, Chris (Erika), Judy and Nina; her great-nieces Cait, Maia, Kelly and Mackenzie; and her brother-in-law Robert. Irene joins her beloved sisters, Margaret and Theresa.

Born in Burlington, Ontario, Irene later moved to Quebec where she pursued her calling as a labour and delivery nurse. She dedicated her career to caring for others at the Montreal General Hospital and the Lakeshore General Hospital. It was in Quebec that she met Luc, the love of her life, and where they built their family and home together.

A celebration of Irene’s life will take place on December 13, 2025, from 11 am–3 pm at Roussin Funeral Home, 12 Av. Saint-Charles, in Dorion, Quebec. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all who supported Irene and held her close throughout her life. She was deeply beloved by so many, and her kindness, warmth and strength will be remembered always.
