Your messages of sympathy

From: George Gervin

My deepest sympathies to the family. Dan was a wonderful person.
I trained with him back in 80's and kept in contact over these years. Rest in peace.

Cathy and Claude, Sending you my heartfelt sympathies at this very sad time. I cannot imagine what you are going through. I have read and heard so many amazing things about your son; his love of life, his love of the water and nature and his love for the both of you. God bless you both and help you get through this tragedy. Lean on those close to you for support. BTW, I am the niece of Patrick and Doreen Coffey from Calgary. Cathy, we met a couple of times. You came to the funeral home in Huntingdon when my Dad passed away. Hugs to you both, Debbie

I was so shocked to hear the tragic news of Dan's passing. I knew Dan from his days of playing hockey with the 94.7 Hitmen to raise money for the Lakeshore Hospital. Always polite and kind, he was a real gentleman with a big heart. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

Where do I begin....every day on my drive back home I'm along the waterfront and I can't help but think of this poor man.....i can't imagine his last minutes of his life and how scary they must've been out there in the dark waters cold......its unbearable to imagine. To the family and friends.....I'm so sorry for this devastating and horrible loss of a man although I didn't meet but from the sounds of it sounded like a gentle happy human. I am somewhat connected to him as my Grandson and Dan were 3rd cousins. I heard that he loved my Grandson and had the chance to meet him and although Thomas will not recall as he is much too little, he will one day be made aware that this beautiful soul was his cousin.
To the entire family my thoughts are with you all. Virtual hugs to you all. Keep strong and support each other . Unfortunately the emptiness and void of his presence will be felt but know that as time heals each day gets a little more bearable than the previous day. To Sylvia Lafontaine I mourn your loss with you. RIP Dan. There's a new star twinkling in the skies above us.....its you and I'm sure you'll see the best sunsets from your point of view 💔🙏😔

From: A beautiful man gone too soon. He was so kind and thoughtful and loved by all. My deepest condolences to Cathy and Claude and all his family.

I have so many fond memories of Dan when he and my sister Diana were going out. Danny as we called him was also a Lafontaine although no relation to us! My Mom loved him dearly and he would always make sure that he visited her up until she passed away in 1997. Danny stayed connected to the Lafontaine siblings and in fact feel blessed that he was able to make it to one of our Montreal family gatherings at my place a few years ago. Danny you always had the biggest smile on your face and you just fit in with everyone. The world has lost a bright and shining star. My heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends. I will remember you always.
